Despite having children from previous relationships under the same roof, Marion (Julie Deply) and Mingus (Chris Rock) have managed a happy existence as a Manhattan couple. Unfortunately this serenity unravels when Marion’s French family decides to come visit America. In the midst of the chaos, Marion shows her artwork at a gallery, deals with the death of her mother and contemplates the existence of the soul, leading Mingus to question how well he truly knows her.
