Rashida Jones and Will McCormack wanted to write a comedy—about heartbreak. Celeste and Jesse Forever was inspired by the successful friendship that resulted from Jones and McCormack’s failed relationship. Jones plays Celeste, the high-powered owner of a media consulting firm and Jesse’s wife since high school. As they approach thirty and Jesse’s pattern of unemployment doesn’t seem as if it will change any time soon, Celeste decides she wants a divorce. But can she handle life apart from her best friend? Directed by Lee Toland Krieger.
